In my struggle and I do mean STRUGGLE to get more active I’ve been taking steps to incorporate more physical exercise in a variety of ways. The primary way has been for me to get back into a walking routine (again). The other morning my husband decided to join me on my walk. As we were walking, talking and just enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery a short grey-haired man zoomed right past us. My husband and I admired his level of endurance and speed. We also felt just a bit embarrassed by this “older” gentleman’s leaving his dust behind us.
My husband and I continued to watch the jogger as he sped around a curve of the path. In amazement, my husband said, “Man he really picked up speed going around that corner.” I then mentioned to my husband that around that corner and the particular section of the path there was a decline, he was going downhill, and that was probably the reason he began to pick up more momentum.
Similarly, life can be that way sometimes. When going through AT&T’s (adversities, trials, and tribulations) it may seem like things are going downhill fast, when in fact when we are in Christ, we are really picking up momentum. If we choose to trust God and rely on Him although things may be spiraling downward, we are actually getting stronger, maturing, gaining more endurance and perseverance.
Ponder on God’s faithful promises:
For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:3
In His kindness, God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So, after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation. 1 Peter 5:10
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who are called according to His purpose for them. For God chose them to become like His Son. Romans 8:28-29a
God works all things together for our good. The good being that we might be conformed to the image of His Son and in the race of faith the way up is down.
So, as we journey together and embark on another week let’s be greatly encouraged to keep fighting the good fight, running with perseverance and exercising our faith. Keep up the momentum. Trust God’s faithfulness, goodness, and love. There is glory around the bend!
