When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought me joy.
Psalm 94:19
Dear God, we lift up our hearts to You in deep gratitude and reverence. We honor You, Lord. You are robed in majesty and consistently faithful. This crazy, topsy turvy world is ever-changing but You remain the same. El Shaddai; God Almighty.
Father, there are so many things in this world to potentially be fearful about and it can cause anxiety to be great within us. There is so much uncertainty, unrest, and unstableness that we’ve never experienced before. There are many legitimate and significant things going on that can cause our hearts to be alarmed. How comforting it is to know that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.
You are our refuge and strength, a very present help when we feel "off”, anxious or afraid. Lord, we know that You haven’t given us a spirit of fear but we struggle at times. We ask that You pour out Your grace to help us to receive Your power, love, and sound mind. Help us to set our minds on the Spirit where there are life and peace.
Jesus, we thank You for leaving us the gift of peace. You have so graciously provided for us perfect peace but Lord oftentimes we forfeit it. You admonish us in Your Word, “Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.” Help us to take hold and fully receive Your perfect peace so that it calms us in every circumstance and gives us courage and strength for every challenge. You are faithful to do it. You alone are our Shield. Place of safety. Prince of peace. Why should we be afraid?
Though the earth should change and though the mountains be shaken, though the waters roar. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God. The holy dwelling place of the Most High where there are hope and peace for the disquieted heart. You, Lord of Hosts are ever-present and are well-proved in times of trouble.
Lord Your servant David searched for You, “I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.” Like David, we cry out and seek You. You are a rewarder to those who diligently seek You. You are the exceeding great Reward and when we set our hearts to go after You; fear fades. Your overwhelming presence brings us consolation, joy, and holy calm.
Fear is erased and our hearts are soothed by the One our hearts seek after.
Faithful God, help us to set our minds and keep focused habitually on the things above, not on things that are on the earth. The desires of this world are growing dim. Our hearts are becoming more aware that this world is not our home. We are in this world but not of this world. Our lives are hidden in You. In You:
Love is perfected.
Fear vanishes.
Faith is anchored.
Joy is bounteous.
Worry wastes.
Trust mounts.
Anxiety exits.
Peace permeates.
Pleasures forevermore.
We thank You, Lord, for quieting our hearts and refocusing our gaze. We look to You, our Source and fountain of blessing.
Now may Your peace, the inner calm of those who walk with You daily be the controlling factor in our hearts; not fear, not what we see, not the reports of men, how we feel, or the tormenting lies of the enemy.
May Your perfected love cast out fear. May Your settled Word have its home in our hearts and minds and be our hope, courage, calm, and expectation forevermore. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
