While We Wait

Updated: Feb 21, 2021

Wait for the Lord. Be of good courage, and He will strengthen your heart; Wait, I say on the Lord! Psalms 27:14

Everlasting Father, we thank you for Your eternal and precious promises. You are good to those who wait on You and who seek You.

Waiting in You is a blessed privilege. Because of the blood of Jesus, we have been brought near and can enter in and dwell in Your house all the days of our lives to wait, learn, linger, and be transformed as in a mirror from glory to glory to the same image of Who our hearts seek after.

Lord, sometimes we get discouraged and impatient in waiting. We pray and the answer seems to tarry. We knock on the door and there seems not even to be a small opening. Help us not to grow weary in well-doing. Strengthen us to rejoice in hope. Be patient in tribulation and constant in prayer. For if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Lord, there are times when we get anxious and are tempted to step out before You but we ask that You would help us to walk, be led, and live in the Spirit. Help us to not put any confidence in the flesh and take things into our own hands. The flesh profits nothing. It is the Spirit that gives life. When we wait patiently for You, You incline Your ear to us and hear our cry. Only in You are we secure, anchored, and calmed while wait for the substance hoped for:

Healing; we wait.
Deliverance; we wait.
Comfort; we wait.
Prodigal to return; we wait.
Marriage restored; we wait.
Salvation of loved ones; we wait.
Strained relationship restored; we wait.
Peace; we wait.
Provision; we wait.
To be filled; we wait.
Overflow; we wait.
More and more of You; we wait.
Our blessed hope the appearing of the glory of our Great God and Savior Jesus; we wait.

Blessed are those who wait for You.

While we wait. You are working. You are doing Your best work in us. Perfecting everything concerning us, bringing it to completion. Renewing our strength. Empowering us to run and not grow weary. Sustaining us to walk and not faint.

While we wait may our hearts be so inclined to worship You in the splendor of Your holiness. To lavish You with love, praises, exaltation, and bless You for all the marvelous things You have done. May the utmost desire of our hearts be to bless and magnify You. Please You. Have deep fellowship with You. You are worthy of it all.

While we wait may we be planted in Your own house and flourish in Your courts in fervent prayer. Abiding in Your holy presence. Delighting ourselves in You. Serving You with gladness. Wholeheartedly seeking You in Your sanctuary. Drawing living waters from deeper wells of Your love, mercy, and grace. Garnering new strength. Fresh grace and holy zeal.

While we wait may our hearts be so burdened and stirred for souls that we may be found working. Fulfilling our ministries. Faithful and at peace. Hands to the plow. Increased capacity to love. Showing mercy and compassion.

We thank You, Lord that while we wait in You we are secure. You are our Rock. Our Refuge. Our Fortress and Strong Tower. When we abide in the secret place of the Most High we find rest under Your shadow. Under Your shadow, we are hidden and endowed with spiritual strength so that we may not be greatly shaken. We are anointed with fresh oil. Souls quieted. Embellished by Your love. Ears open to Your gentle whispers. Hearts awakened to glimpses of the climate of heaven. A foretaste of what's to come!

Gracious God, while waiting would You give us fresh eyes to see Your truth and hopeful hearts to wait for You in eager expectation to move in us, for us, and through us. We cling to the Living Word and anchor our souls in the written Word.

No promise of Yours has ever failed. May our souls hope in Your Word and wait for You more than watchmen in the morning.

While we wait we let go of what we can't control and adhere to Your Word.

We relinquish.

Trust.

Hope.

Abide.

Worship.

Wait.

In eager expectation.

In Jesus' name. Amen.
