Keep Striking Until Victory Is Won

"Then he commanded, 'Open that eastern window," and he opened it. Then he said, "Shoot!" So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed, "This is the Lord's arrow, an arrow of victory over Aram, for you will completely conquer the Arameans at Aphek."

2 Kings 13:17

Elisha was near death when he instructed King Jehoahaz in how to be victorious in a physical battle against the Arameans. As believers, we are engaged in a spiritual battle and this account in 2 Kings Chapter 13 is an impactful model and picture of enduring faithful prayer.

Elisha would give the king specific instructions and strategy to triumph over their enemies by shooting arrows and striking the ground. Unfortunately, King Jehoahaz did not follow through and half- heartedly carried out the directives given by the prophet Elisha and this not only adversely affected Jehoahaz but also was to the detriment of the nation of Israel.

Fast forward to today, there is so much to contend with in this world and prayer. Nation rising against nation. Wars and rumors of wars. Increase in lawlessness, love waxing cold, civil unrest. Unordinary family division like I've never seen or heard of before. Father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” (Luke 12:53)

Though we cannot pray away things that were foretold in God's Word that would happen we are still called to fervent prayer. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can strategically strike and shoot "arrows" of prayer in the enemy's camp and bring deliverance, salvation, healing, and victory. Lives are hanging in the balance.

On Friday, June 13th, up to 200 Christian Nigerians were horribly massacred, some burned including babies. This is an urgent and desperate call to faithful and earnest prayer.

The Bible instructs us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. (Psalm 122:6)

As the birth pangs increase, fear will increase. Hopelessness will increase. As a result, there is a need for an increase in laborers. Jesus instructed His disciples to therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:38)

There is much deception, illusion, and delusion in the world today. There is a call to pray for wisdom and discernment to not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)

Many of our brothers and sisters are weary and experiencing battle fatigue and are in dire need of endurance. There is a call to pray for endurance for fellow believers, so that when they have done the will of God they may receive what is promised. (Hebrews 10:36).

Oh dear friends there is so much to bring us to our knees in earnest prayer and supplication.

We are exhorted in 1 Timothy to pray for kings and all those who have authority so that we may lead a quiet life. The world around us may be in utter chaos but when we are postured in fervent prayer we can have an inward quietness birthed from intimacy with our Father.

Oh, but it doesn't stop there. We are exhorted to pray for everyone. It doesn't matter what people's lives look like on the outside. Everybody needs prayer and is fighting inward and outward battles and in need of someone to stand in the gap for them.

There is an urgent call to pray. To pray in the spirit and with our understanding. Pray and don't up! Pray for everyone.

Pray for the ones others have counted out. Pray for those who look to always be counted in.

Pray for our enemies, pray for our families.

Pray for the lost. Pray for the found.

Pray for those who live on the street, pray for those who live in a mansion.

Pray for the unborn babies. Pray for the babies already here.

Pray for the children. Pray for the teens.

Pray for the students, pray for the teacher.

Pray for the seniors. Pray for those in between.

Pray for the physically ill. Pray for the mentally ill.

Pray for our men. Pray for the women.

Pray for marriages. Pray for those divorced.

Pray for the single mother. Pray for the single father.

Pray for the pastor. Pray for the church.

Pray for the addicted to be set free. Pray for those who have been set free to stay free.

Pray for those who mourn. Pray for those who rejoice.

To everything, there is a season and prayer is always in season.

So in every season; pray, for everyone and keep striking until the victory is fully won.
