As I was praying and seeking the Lord regarding all the chaos, panic, fear and uncertainty that many people in various places around the world are experiencing and now has hit home God spoke profoundly to my heart. Father readjusted my gaze and set my heart and mind at rest. While praying and casting my cares or should I say fears on the Lord, He impressed strongly on my heart these five words “Keep your eyes on Me.”
I thank God for this much-needed reminder. Too much of the news, people’s opinions, and theories can cause a shift of focus which if not careful can cause us to put a magnifying glass to the problem instead of magnifying God who is able to make all grace abound toward us and carry us through.
These things that have come upon the earth are no surprise to God and no matter what it looks like He remains in control. We must not think it strange nor must we be afraid. Rather than be anxious or worried we must be wise and seek God in prayer and in His holy Word. Stay close to the heart of God to have not only an ear to hear but a settling, strengthening and reassurance in our hearts that God is exactly who He says He is and He is fully trustworthy. He is a refuge in times of trouble and those who know His name put their trust in Him. Secure trust in Him calms fear and quiets the anxious heart.
Will you join me in prayer as we direct our hearts and attention to our all-powerful, faithful and gracious God.
Father, we unite our hearts in prayer and give You thanks in all things for this is Your will concerning us. We thank You for Your watchful eye. Nothing misses You. You who watch over us never slumbers or sleeps.
For You, Lord do not change. You are our God and the Rock of our salvation. Though the world around us is in pandemonium we will not be moved. We will lift up our eyes to the hill from whence comes our help. Our help comes only from You who made heaven and earth. You will not allow our foot to be moved. You alone are our keeper and our shade at our right hand. You shall preserve our souls. You preserve our going out and coming in. From this time forth, and even forevermore. (Psalm 121)
You reassure us in Your Word that those who trust in You are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever! (Psalm 125:1)
Gracious God settle our hearts and help us to not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to You. And Your peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) Hallelujah! We thank You for Your promise that You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You! All whose minds are fixed on You! (Isaiah 26:3)
You have said, “Seek My face.” Our hearts say to You, Your face, Lord we do seek. (Psalm 27:8) We look to You and Your strength and seek Your face always. (1 Chronicles 16:6) Those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord have not forsaken those who seek You. (Psalm 9:10)
Your Word says, “Before the coming of the Son of men, men’s heart will fail them from fear and expectation of those things which are coming upon the earth.” (Luke 21:26) But You have not given Your people a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. Our faith does not rest on human wisdom of men but on Your power!
This we declare about You Lord! You alone are our refuge and place of safety our God in whom we trust! We will not dread the pestilence that stalks in darkness. We will not be afraid of the terrors of the night nor the arrow that flies by day. You alone are our refuge! (Psalm 91)
You who made heaven and earth! O Lord our God, You are very great! You are clothed with honor and majesty! Even the king’s heart is in Your hand and like the rivers of water, You turn it wherever You wish! (Proverbs 21:1) You can do anything and no one can stop You! (Job 42:2)
We call on Your strength and proclaim our faith! Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory and the majesty! Everything in the heavens and on earth is Yours, We adore You as the One who is over all things! (1 Chronicles 29:11)
We will be confident of this very thing, You who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)
So, I tell you this. Do not be thinking all the time about how to stay alive. Do not have trouble in your mind about the food and drink that you need. So do not trouble in your mind about these things. Do not say, “What will we eat?”, or “What will we drink?” or “What will we wear?” People who do not know God are always thinking about these things. But as for you, your Father in heaven knows that you need them. Instead, always think about the things that are important in the kingdom of heaven. Always do what God shows you is right. Then He will also give you the things that you need each day. So do not have trouble in your mind about what might happen tomorrow. Tomorrow will have its own problems. It is enough for you to be thinking each day about the problems of that day. (Matthew 6:25, 31-34 ESV)
As far as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is Your mercy toward those who fear You and Your righteousness to children’s children. (Psalm 103: 17) We will fix our eyes on You, the Author and Perfector of our faith, steadfastly and wholeheartedly seeking You and Your strength remembering the marvelous works You have done. For You, through You and to You are all things. All to You be the glory forever. In the matchless name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Be kept in the love and peace of God.
