God of all Comfort

Updated: Dec 25, 2022

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:3

God of all comfort we thank You for the opportunity to carry one another's burdens in prayer. We know that You are sure to answer in so many God-affirming amazing ways.

Lord, we lift up those who are grieving before Your throne of grace. The holiday season is known for peace, joy to the world, and glad tidings but for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, it is a very difficult season to endure. So many memories, a song, an empty chair, an unoccupied passenger or driver's seat; reminders that trigger the waves of tears and grief.

We ask that You would comfort those who mourn on every side. Console with Your all-consuming power. Consume with Your perfected love. Drench their hearts with Your abounding grace. Immerse them with Your overwhelming peace and overcoming presence to undergird and carry them through moment by moment.

You are a very present help in their time of need. Emmanuel, You are with them every step of the way. You are a Faithful Sustainer. Mighty Healer. Perfect Consoler. You know the depths of the heart and we ask that You mend and fill the grief-stricken with hope, joy and peace as they trust in You, so that they may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thank You blessed Saviour for bearing our griefs and carrying our sorrows. You are close to the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit. Bless those who mourn with deeper depths of Your faithfulness, love, strength, care; Your fingerprint in a real personal, powerful, and tangible way. Touch hearts with the healing balm of Your mighty Hand.

We look forward to the day when You will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying. No more pain. For now, send the Comforter to settle, soothe, and blanket weeping hearts. Though we don't mourn as those who don't have hope, it's still so painful at times. Some days are good some not so good but we know that YOU ARE GOOD ALL OF THE TIME and when the waves of despair overwhelm us You are faithful to keep us from sinking and lead us to the rock that is higher than us. You O Lord keep our lamps burning! You turn our darkness into light! You arm us with strength and make our ways perfect! When we are heavy in spirit, You robe us with the garment of praise! Therefore we offer You praise! Praise be to the Rock! Exalted be God our Savior!

We are established in Your comforting truth! The one who believes in You will live even though they die. (John 11:25-26) We take comfort in knowing that nothing. Neither life nor death can separate us or our loved ones from the love revealed in Christ Jesus! (Romans 15:13)

We thank You that You will use even this for Your glory! Now we will be able to comfort those with the comfort that we receive from You. Our consolation abounds through Christ to others. (1 Corinthians 1:4-5) How great is our God!

We thank You for the gift of hope. The gift of prayer. The gift of peace. The gift of abiding comfort. For blessing us with the gift of our loved ones. Most of all, we thank You for the Greatest Gift of all; Jesus, and through Him the gift of eternal life. Life without end.

We bless You and thank You so much for being the strength of our hearts. The Lifter of our heads. Our Source of all that's good and perfect. Our portion both now and forever! In the triumphant name of Jesus. Amen.

I pray you are greatly blessed, encouraged, and stirred to pray. Please share to encourage others! God loves you! I love you! I'm praying for you!
